Editing Your Photos

Follow the tips below and spend a few minutes with your favourite photo-editing program to enhance your picture and your presentation to the world. If you don't have an editing program we suggest you visit www.tucows.com and search for 'graphics' or 'photos' to find a suitable software package. We regret that we cannot provide technical support for photo editing software. Have you followed the guidelines below but still struggling to find the perfect photo? Why not have a professional photo taken and digitised? Many photographic stores offer a professional service and will supply with a digital photo on disk or via email.

Technical Requirements

Your photo must either be in JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, TIFF or PCX format.

Your photo must be less than 4096kB, but there is no restriction on the dimensions of the image you upload. We will automatically resize it if it is too large.

Choose Your Photos Carefully

1. Is the image of you clear? Does it do you justice and show you off at your best? A small clear picture is far better than a large picture with little detail. For your Primary Photo, be sure to have a head and shoulder photo or it may not be approved.

2. Is your photo too small and you are planning to enlarge it? Be careful - the quality can deteriorate remarkably.
   
   
    
3. Does your photo include other people? Rather consider photos only of yourself.
   
   
    
4. Does the photo have unnecessary people (the ex boyfriend), items or empty space in it? Try to crop or cut your photo to get rid of these.

Photo Visibility

Deciding How Your Photos Should Be Seen By Others

• You want EVERYONE to see the photo - choose 'Make this photo visible to everyone'
   
• You want only your FAVOURITES to see your photo (maybe your children, or you in that hot outfit) - choose 'Make this photo visible to all my favourites'
   
• You have a photo that you want CERTAIN PEOPLE ONLY to see - choose 'Make this photo visible by invitation only'
   
• You want NO-ONE to see a particular photo in your album - choose 'Hide this photo from everyone'
   

Questions and Answers

Q: How many photos may I have in my album?	You may have a maximum of 10 photos in your Photo Album..
Q: What is my Primary Photo?	Your Primary Photo is the photo that other members will see when they view your profile. It should be a clear head and shoulder photo and not have other people in it.
Q: I don't want a Primary Photo as I need some privacy. Can I still have photos in my photo album?	YES. You can choose to make your photos available to all your favourites, or only to those members you invite to view your private photo album.
Q: What is my Private Photo Album?	Your Private Album allows you to have photos linked to your profile. No-one can see your photos unless you invite them to. You can at any time un-invite someone from your Private Album.
Q: How do I invite people to view my Private Photo Album?	It's very easy. Just go to the profile of the member you want to invite, and click on the 'Invite him/her to view my Private Photo Album' option. This is also where you will un-invite some-one from viewing your album.
Q: Are my photos visible to members as soon as I have uploaded them.	NO. All newly uploaded photos must be checked and approved by our support staff before they become publicly visible. The same is true of existing photos if you change your primary picture. Photos are usually checked within 24 hours of upload, but this may be longer at times of high demand, and on weekends when we have fewer staff on duty.
Q: Why did a photo I uploaded not display or disappear from my profile?	Your photo may be deleted if it does not comply with our technical requirements, is obscene or is a picture of a celebrity or other copyrighted material such as cartoon pictures.

Dating in Australia Policy

Dating in Australia does not warrant the suitability of photos in a members private photo album nor will we become involved in discussion regarding their suitability.**

You alone are responsible for the level of communication and interaction you wish to have with other members. If you have been invited to view these photos but have concerns about doing so, rather refrain from viewing them and first ascertain, by direct communication with the member, that they are unlikely to offend you.
